The Art of Smudge Stick Making

Sunday 6 September
11.00 am - 12.30 pm
Stretch Yoga Holland Park

Art and nature pair beautifully, and both delight the senses. Immerse yourself in a world of colour, scent and storytelling as you create your own native botanical smudge stick.

Smudging is a sacred practice found in many cultures around the world. It involves burning dried herbs, leaves or resins with respect and intention.

The plants used in this workshop are all grown and gathered in Meanjin. You'll learn the art of mindful foraging, discover the qualities and symbolism of different plants, craft your own botanical bundle, and learn how to safely burn and care for it.

In this workshop, we'll explore:

  • The tradition of smoke cleansing and the importance of engaging with it respectfully.
  • The aromatic and medicinal qualities of locally grown herbs, flowers and foliage, including eucalyptus, rosemary, lavender and wattle.
  • The symbolism of each plant, so you can create a bundle infused with your own intention.
  • How mindful foraging can deepen our connection with nature and support our wellbeing.
  • How to create your own botanical smudge stick to take home or gift.
  • How to safely burn your smudge stick and incorporate it into a simple cleansing ritual.

You'll leave with:

You'll leave with a handcrafted smudge stick, a deeper appreciation for the plants growing around you, and a grounding ritual to return to whenever you need a moment of calm, reflection or renewal.

All materials are lovingly provided - simply bring your curiosity, presence, and a willingness to create with nature.

Investment: $39 per person (members receive a 20% discount)
