Gratitude is often spoken about as a mindset or a feeling - but in practice, it can be difficult to access, especially when the mind is focused on what’s missing.
This 2-hour workshop explores gratitude as a trainable skill of attention, grounded in both modern positive psychology and the yogic principle of Santosha - contentment. Rather than promoting forced positivity, Santosha offers a more nuanced approach: learning to recognise what is already present, even within an imperfect experience.
We begin by exploring the science of gratitude and how it influences perception, resilience, and emotional patterns. This is then linked to yoga philosophy, positioning Santosha as an active, moment-to-moment practice of “enoughness.”
An embodied yoga practice follows, designed to help participants experience the contrast between striving and sufficiency within the body. This transitions into a guided gratitude-based yoga nidra, allowing for a more intuitive and less effortful experience of contentment.
To support integration beyond the workshop, participants will receive a set of thoughtfully designed gratitude postcards - simple, practical tools to help interrupt habitual patterns of lack and gently redirect attention toward what is already here. These can be used personally or shared with others as an expression of appreciation.
Suitable for all levels, this workshop is ideal for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of yoga beyond the physical, while developing grounded, realistic practices for everyday wellbeing.
